This is the Iron Man robot that can be controlled from any mobile device to battle an endless array of virtual enemies with light, action, and sound. An app lets you build the robot’s arsenal by completing customized augmented reality missions. Faithfully reproducing iconic Marvel character’s external appearance, the robot has seven servos that control movement for the head (up/down and side-to-side), arms (up/down), waist (side-to-side), and forward/backward walking. Its built-in infrared sensor detects the edge of tables, desks, and counters, causing the robot to take a few steps backwards. LEDs built into its eyes, chest, repulsor palms, heels, and bottom of feet provide realistic colors accompanied by sound effects from its chest speaker. Its face plate flips up to reveal an LCD with Tony Stark’s face; an app allows you to put your own face on the LCD. Its twin rechargeable batteries provide up to 1 1/2 hours of playtime from a one-hour charge using the included microUSB cable.
